A Letter from Bill Powers
After receiving concerning results of an arterial scan that was done at the 2008 Start! Coachella Valley Heart Walk, I followed up with my physician who addressed my health issues. Within six months I have been able to maintain a healthy blood pressure and keep my cholesterol down. I am a proud supporter of the American Heart Association’s efforts toward the prevention and early detection of this disease.
I am so pleased to have been chosen as the 2009 Start! Heart Walk Honoree. I encourage you to join me and 3000 others on Saturday, October 31st, 2009, for the 18th Annual Start! Coachella Valley Heart Walk. This fun filled family event promotes physical activity and a balanced diet as part of a heart-healthy lifestyle. We raise funds for research and program development to fight heart disease, stroke and other cardiovascular diseases. These diseases are our nation’s #1 killer, claiming nearly 865,000 American lives a year. CHD causes about one of every five deaths in the United States. It is the largest single killer of American males and females.
